Fish Bait

July brings childhood memories of Cornish mackerel fishing and returning home proudly with our generous catches. The giddy abundance and simplicity of it all. Back then, marketing was equally straightforward. All a business needed was a reasonably decent boat to go out in, a savvy fisherman at the helm, some lines and bait, a big bucket or two and, maybe a life jacket! www.cornwall-online.co.uk

Occasionally one can’t help but look back on those marketing ‘mackerel days’ with nostalgia. No one needs telling that the whole style with which a business might ‘fish’ has changed. Gone is the sense of a wide plentiful sea on which a business simply launched their boat (and the earlier the better!). In today’s business arena such ‘fishing habits’ are not as effective. www.fly-fishing-tackle.co.uk

Current ‘fishing conditions’ are tough, but there is still reward to be had for those who are prepared to re-evaluate and change their methods. The fish might run a little thinner, but the skillful fisherman, despite looking as still as anyone else, continues to catch. www.britishangling.co.uk
